Roy and Sharon’s Fairmont Banff Springs Micro Winter Wedding

Planning your wedding is a big deal. There are so many pieces to puzzle together and so many decisions to be made. Ultimately, the very last thing you want, at the end of all of the planning and preparation, is to feel any stress on the day of your wedding. It's meant to be a celebration and the best day ever, and you deserve to enjoy every minute! It's for this reason that we always offer guidance to our couples for avoiding stress, because it inevitably shows through in your photos. Here are 2 pretty simple steps to get you better photos, and of course, enable you to enjoy your wedding day:

  1. Size! While large weddings are lots of fun, they can definitely cause stress and overwhelm simply by the amount of people to connect with on your wedding day. More people always equals more logistics! If you are easily overwhelmed by crowds, or don't like the idea of having to plan logistics for a lot of people on your wedding day, having a smaller wedding is one of the easiest ways to eliminate that stress. It would also be worth mentioning that most visually interesting and exceptional venues in the Calgary, Banff and Lake Louise area only have capacity for smaller sized weddings. (Also, if we're honest, it's pretty much impossible to visit and hang out with 300 people on your wedding day.)
  2. Don't work! aka. Hire a planner. Let's face it: Wedding planning is like a part time job on top of your full time job. Most of us are, at best, amateur event planners who have never planned a wedding before, and with so many voices (whether from research, friends or family) telling you what to do, it can be extremely overwhelming. Not to mention the pressure of it being one of the most important days in your life. (So don't mess up, right?) In fact, the number one regret we hear after weddings is that the couple wished they had hired a wedding planner (or at the very least, a day-of coordinator). The reality is, that most brides who plan and handle all the details and logistics of their own wedding are constantly distracted, and find it almost impossible to actually slow down and enjoy their wedding day. And of course, as your photographers, we can say from a decade of past weddings, that if you work on your wedding day, it will most certainly affect your photos. Stress 100% shows through, and you want to look back on your photos to remember the joy and celebration, not the hustle and grind. Your wedding day will fly by, and you want to be present to enjoy it. Offload the stress of all those details to someone else. You won't regret it.

Roy and Sharon's Fairmont Banff Springs wedding is the perfect example of stress elimination using the two steps from above. With only their closest family and friends, along with the incredible Social & Co. team, they enjoyed a low stress, incredibly memorable wedding day. Their portraits speak for themselves of the power of being able to enjoy your wedding day with those you love most.

cheers,
