A Dreamy Summer Pre-Wedding Portrait Session at Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise
Imagine the most serene summer evening at Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise as the sun slowly dips below the majestic mountains, softly draping a warm, golden glow over everything in sight. Even amidst one of the smokiest summers that we as Lake Louise wedding photographers have seen, the mix of smokey haze and warm sunset sun made the most incredible soft light.
This was the setting for Alex and Kerry’s pre-wedding portrait session, on the night before their long-awaited and anticipated Lake Louise wedding. They traveled all the way from Hong Kong, where they live with their soon-to-be two little girls. But let’s take it back a bit. We had first booked Alex and Kerry’s wedding years earlier, in 2019 actually! But with a global pandemic interrupting travel and worldwide celebrations, as well as varying international restrictions and requirements, their dream of the perfect Lake Louise wedding had to be patient.
In the meantime, the couple was able to have their legal ceremony in Montreal, with Alex’s family, as well as their Hong Kong celebration, with Kerry’s family. So back to this evening – with two different celebrations on different continents, one sweet baby girl later and one more on the way, Alex and Kerry were excited to finally begin their wedding weekend – the third and final celebration to honour their marriage and growing family.
The evening was everything they had waited for – the tranquility of the lake, the glowy evening light, the beauty of everything that the Canadian Rocky Mountains have to show off. I mean come on! The canoes had just been cleared off of Lake Louise for the evening, and the water was truly incredible – these portraits are pure magic and will be a treasure for Alex and Kerry – especially in the long wait to get them! The outfits they chose were the perfect compliment not only to each other, but to the setting. (Pro-tip: Choose outfits with varied tones, and textures. Earth tones always photograph so wonderfully in nature – as long as it’s not the same tone. ie. turquoise with Lake Louise. And we always offer helpful feedback as you embark upon your wardrobe selection.) And it’s only fitting, with their story to get to this weekend, that their newest member of the family should be included in the memories. There will be more of this incredible weekend at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise to come!
