Lake Louise Wedding Photography

The lake that makes people

Lake Louise is, without question, one of the most beautiful wedding locations in the world. The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise has hosted some of the most extraordinary celebrations we've ever witnessed. The lakeshore at sunrise, with the Victoria Glacier behind you and the water that literally glows — there are no words. Only photographs.

What we've learned from years of working here: the crowds are real, the light timing is everything, and the couples who get the best photographs are the ones willing to start early, stay late, and trust the process.

Sunrise Sessions

The lake before 7am is a different world. We help couples plan around the best light and the smallest crowds.

Park Permits Handled

We manage all Parks Canada commercial photography permits. Included, always.

What no one tells you about

Lake Louise is extraordinary. It's also heavily visited. Here's everything we wish someone had told us before we photographed here the first time.

The Honest Lake Louise Guide

What's the best time to photograph at Lake Louise?

Sunrise. Full stop. The lake between 5:30 – 8am in summer is a completely different place than at 11am. The light is soft, the water is glass, and the crowds haven't arrived. We build all our Lake Louise timelines around sunrise access. Yes, it's an early morning. Yes, it's completely worth it.

Can you photograph a wedding at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise?

Yes. We've photographed weddings and editorial work at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. The property has specific guidelines for photography on the grounds, we know them well. The lakeshore, the garden terrace, and the iconic view from the main entrance are all exceptional. The ballroom has incredible detail.

Are permits required for wedding photography at Lake Louise?

Yes, Lake Louise is within Banff National Park, and Parks Canada requires a Commercial Photography permit for all professional photography. We handle this completely as part of every Lake Louise package. You won't think about it for a second.

What about the summer crowds?

This is the real thing to plan around. Lake Louise in July–August can have thousands of visitors by 9am. Our strategy: we always arrive before 7am for portraits. We know the spots that stay relatively clear even at peak times. And we've learned that the crowds, honestly, can become part of the story - a reminder of how much the world loves this place.
